One of the perks for working at BG is having our own personal trainer, Michael Walker of Cross Training San Marco, 3 days a week. I started working out with Michael soon after I became an employee in 2004.

Five years later… Just call me “G.I. Jane”!!! I’ll out jump rope/push-up/sit-up you any day!!! … I’m kidding, but I have to say I’ve come a long way. The joke is you work out once with Michael, and you never come back. Not completely true, but I’d be lying to say the workouts are easy. Try lunging the depth of a building and back with weights in hand or starting a work out with 500 reps of jump rope.

I’m probably his #1 whiner/complainer/negotiator. Our conversations are usually along the lines of:

Michael: “Jenny, Don’t sit down you’ve got 50 squats!”
Me: “Michael, I just did a million lunges there’s no way I can do 50 squats!”
Michael: “What did I just say?-50 squats!”
Me: “How about 30 squats?”
Michael: “That’s why your butt jiggles! 50 squats, let’s go!!!”
Me: “Arrrghhhh!!!”

As much as I whine, complain, grumble, etc … I secretly love to hate the workouts. I’m amazed at how my strength has developed over the years from push-ups to full-on pull-ups. The workouts have also been an excellent way to clear my head, relieve stress and stay in shape. Plus I’d like to think I’m on my way to being the next girl version of Maurice Jones-Drew or a real-life version of Mighty Mouse (small, strong and quick!). Now if I would just put down the cookies and ice cream!
