It’s about time I did this

Hello there. My name is Shauna Panczyszyn (pronounced Pan-chez-en, it’s Ukrainian for “Pat, can I buy a vowel?”) and I’ve been the creative intern at Brunet-García for the last six months. In my time here, I’ve learned a lot, created a lot, and managed to forget to write any blog entries.

I started interning before I graduated last December from the University of North Florida here in good old Jacksonville. I realized that without any real-world experience I would be hard-pressed to find a job after graduation, so I made it my mission to find an internship. After several tries applying to other design agencies, I was directed to BG by my professor and, after interviewing, was given the opportunity to intern at this awesome place (I’m not kidding, we even have a sticker on the door that says, “This is an awesome place”).

Over the last six months, I have been given so many opportunities, encouragement and portfolio pieces. I’ve grown as a designer and have been spoiled because I’m not sure anywhere else I will work in my lifetime will measure up to the BG atmosphere. I’ve partied at the ADDY awards and attended webinars in the conference room. I’ve gone on press checks and toured a press facility. I’ve drawn to my heart’s content and offered input on real-world design projects and even collaborated on an event poster with Jefferson. I’ve definitely consumed so much espresso that it’s probably unhealthy.

To everyone at Brunet-García, I have learned so much here, and I could not have done it without the support of the creative team (and of course the PR team!) and their positive feedback, even if the design wasn’t quite there yet. I want to say thank you to each and every one of you for the opportunity to be a part of the team and making me feel like a welcome member of the Brunet-García family during my time as an intern. I cannot thank you enough for all the support and encouragement you all have given me. I have made friends that I hope to have for a long time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, everyone. You have been beyond wonderful, and I hope to remain in touch with all of you. Good luck to BG at the ADDY nationals – I cannot wait to hear what you won. Good luck to you in the future. I know you will create some amazing things.

Intern out.

Shauna
